Playing with Shakespeare

for Typography & Visual Design

A series of three posters designed during the Spring 2019 semester class of Typography & Visual Design at Parsons, taught by Professor William Bevington.

We were tasked with creating a series of posters promoting fictional productions of Shakespeare’s plays. I drew upon the colorful designs of Tyler Spangler as inspiration. The feedback from a good friend, Max Rasche, spurred the concept of using photographs of Rodin’s timeless sculptures depicting the human hand. The hand, a body part whose understated presence on stage is here celebrated as a means of expressing emotion.
